QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION

What type of photography sessions do you offer?
I have experience in many fields of photography; family, maternity, newborn, children and teens, couples, engagement, boudoir, wedding, personal branding, and commercial photography. Feel free to contact me.
How far in advance should I book my session? When should we do our session?
The earlier you book the better. Currently, Krystal Klear Photography is booking 2-3 months in advance for portrait sessions, 6 months in advance for maternity and newborn sessions and 1-2 years for weddings. While I always try my best to sneak you in for a session, I cannot guarantee your perfect date and time is available if you leave booking to the last minute.

Every session is unique. During your pre-consultation we will discuss and determine when the perfect time is to do your session. Some sessions do require a bit of extra planning, so I encourage you to do your maternity session between 32-36 weeks, newborn sessions are typically done between 3-10 days and engagement session as soon as possible. The latest I suggest to do an engagement session is at least 10-12 weeks prior to the wedding date due to the time necessary to post produce each image and complete your product order(s).

How do we choose our session location?
I always suggest selecting a location that is special to you as a family or as a couple or to you individually. Other places could include; somewhere that really represent the beauty of our incredible area.

I love being outdoors and am happy to suggest some areas that I have explored in the past that are so beautiful. I ask a lot of questions during our initial meetings to get to you know you better, so I can suggest places you will love.

What do you suggest I wear? Do you provide clothing?
I want you to be comfortable in what you are wearing for your session. Your confidence will show in your images. During your In-Person Consultation prior to your session, we will stylize everything down to the last detail. I am happy to help pick some things out with you, from your own closet. There is never a necessity to buy new outfits for your session. I have a wardrobe available, for certain types of sessions, which is always growing. Currently, I do not provide clothing for men or or children.

Season, location and type of session will play a part in what outfits are best and I am always here to help. I can send suggestions to help you along too. Try to think outside the box. I have lots of outfits, wraps and props for newborns. You really do not need to bring anything. For special requests, please let me know ahead of time.

Do you offer hair and makeup?
Absolutely! I have a wonderful team I can bring in or send to your home to help you with any look you would like to have. It is a nice to be pampered the day of your session. Hair & MakeUp services are included in all Boudoir Sessions.
How long are sessions?
Session lengths are determined by the nature of each type of session and what we are trying to accomplish. I always block off plenty of time to capture everything, plus more while we are together!

I will always encourage shooting either in the early morning hours or in the later half of the day so we can catch the beautiful sunrise or sets for outdoor sessions. Golden hour is always a win in my books!

Early morning sessions are ideal for newborn sessions. We would discuss in your pre-consultation how much time is needed for your needs and wants.

What if I'm running late? Can I reschedule my shoot?
Yes, you can but there is a $175 rescheduling fee. I will wait for you up to 30 minutes before being forced to reschedule you for another date.

I realize circumstances can be beyond one’s control and can prevent you from making it to your photo session on time, but you must understand that missing your session affects my time and income.

When can I expect to see my images?
Your Reveal & Ordering Consultation is generally booked within 1-2 weeks after your portrait session and 3-4 weeks after your wedding. This is where you will decide which images are your favourites and you would like for your wall art, albums and other beautiful heirloom products. There are no minimums. You’re in control of how much you want to spend. Once final selections are made your artwork will be ordered.

Delivery typically takes approximately 2-3 weeks to arrive. However, if you have a specific timeline, I will ensure your session is done far enough in advance and include delivery time. After your reveal and ordering consultation, I will also deliver your final collection through an online, password protected online gallery, where you can share with family and friends, as well as on social media.

Do you deliver every image? How many images are included in my session?
No. I eliminate duplicate images, test shots, missed focused shots, shots with bad expressions and other images that may dilute the overall product delivery.

For example, because I shoot with low apertures, sometimes I take a few extra shots to make sure I have the perfect focus. I don’t expect you to have the expertise or the time to zoom into each image to select the one with the sharpest focus, so I spend hours doing that on my end. Another example is candid laughs and emotional tears. These are some of the best images from our time together, but unfortunately, they can also yield some unflattering facial expressions. I might snap a few extras of any of these moments to make sure I have a great shot with the ideal expression for the moment. With my expertise of processing millions of images each year, I may eliminate ones I feel are duplicates. I only deliver the best ones for you to see.

The actual number of images delivered all depends upon the type of session we create together. Typically, there can be anywhere from 25-50 images per 1-hour session to choose from for your favourites, or 50-75 per hour of a wedding. Keep in mind these numbers may increase or decrease depending on the flow your session.

Do you use Photoshop and do you edit all of my images?
Yes, all of your images in your final collection will be fully edited. During your Reveal & Ordering Consultation, the images seen will only have soft proof editing on them. A few will have final edits completed to show you how your favourites will look. Every image is closely inspected and edited with my unique signature style in post-production. This can involve colour correction, exposure adjustment, clarity adjustments, tone-mapping, and other corrections. I will do minor retouching in post-production which include touch-ups such as removal of blemishes, bags under eyes, fly-away hairs, unwanted scars/marks, etc.

However, custom post- production is anything requiring extensive work in Photoshop such as removing entire objects from the scene, changing the size and shape of body parts or other objects in the scene, adding objects to a scene or smoothing out your wrinkled clothing, etc. there is an additional $125 fee per image.

Do you offer albums, wallet, etc?
I sure do, for any occasion! I am fortunate enough to work with a couple amazing companies which allow me to create truly unique albums and heirloom pieces that are designed to last. Everything is 100% customizable and are honestly worth the investment! You will cherish them for generations to come. Please contact me today to discuss everything Krystal Klear has to offer.
Can I order more images and printed artwork after?
Yes you can, but I can only guarantee holding your images for 30 days. I do store every image on multiple backups and can usually go back quite some time to retrieve your session or wedding images. Please note, once images are archived, there is a $225 fee to retrieve them.
Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes. You can purchase gift certificates directly on my site. If you don’t see the denomination you’re interested, please contact me and I can arrange it for you.
Why is photography so expensive?
There’s a photographer for every budget … Like anything else you buy, the better the quality the more it costs. For me, I’m not just selling images, I am offering an unique and personal experience. The images I create are a byproduct of this overall experience. I want you to walk away from any session feeling more amazing than before you arrived. I want you to cherish what we just created together. You can check out my pricing on my Investment page.
